Class Descriptions

All Classes are Inspired by Classical Hatha Yoga

Chair Yoga: Chair Yoga is a perfect fit for those who have mobility concerns, who have hips or knees that don’t enjoy getting up and down off the floor and anyone who would like to explore another avenue to expand their yoga practice. Perhaps you have stopped practicing yoga because you are finding it too challenging to step back to lunge or lift to a downward facing dog? Chair yoga makes all that accessible to you with all the benefits you enjoy from these postures. The class begins with centering breathing, seated stretches, standing postures with the safety of having the chair for balance and of course to finish a lovely Savasana (relaxation). You can sit in the chair for relaxation or recline on the floor with pillows and bolsters to make you comfortable.

Beginner:  Beginner Level Hatha Yoga classes offer the student a place to begin. The mysteries of Yoga are removed as we gently begin to learn, and become comfortable with, Basic Yoga postures. Beginning level is also recommended for those who may wish to strengthen the foundation of their practice or who may simply want an ongoing practice that is in harmony with their level of flexibility. The focus is on Classical Asanas (Postures), Alignment Principals and Pranayama (Breathing Techniques). A gentle version of Sun Salutation will be offered.

Gentle Flow YogaA Beginner Flow Yoga Class. Your class will begin with an opportunity to connect to and focus on your breathing. We then take the time to safely open and warm the body with gentle stretches.  Flows of postures are then offered at a comfortable pace including a gentle form of Sun Salutation. A deep relaxation ends the class. Suitable for Beginners and Experienced students.

All Levels Flow Yoga:   All Levels Flow Yoga is really just the way it sounds! We will begin the class with a chance to centre yourself and explore your breath followed by gentle stretches to safely open and warm the body. The class will them move through Sun Salutations and various other flows of postures with options given so you can customize your own practice. Expect to move continuously for at least a third of this class.  Balancing postures will be offered followed by a much deserved, deep relaxation. Some previous Yoga experience is helpful but not necessary.
